A Standard Tour begins with a visit to our Museum Shop. Visitors may then proceed through our landscaped grounds to Highland, the home of James Monroe. A guide will escort guests through the Monroe home, furnished with original and period American and French furniture, and through an 1880s Victorian addition that includes an exhibition room.

The guided portion of the Standard Tour concludes with a visit to an authentic period kitchen and the Service Yard, where visitors can see James Monroe's Smokehouse, Slave Quarters, and Overseer's Cottage. See Admission Prices.
