Monroe added this children's room in 1816 along with the study. The children's room contains a king's crown canopy bed and bedsteps like those Maria Hester, the Monroes' younger daughter, would have used to climb into bed. A tiny tea table, set for a doll tea party, may have been a cabinetmaker's sample in the late eighteenth and early-nineteenth centuries. The Aubusson carpet in tapestry weave was popular in France in the 1700's.
