The standard house tour continues from the house onto the grounds of James Monroe's "Highland" Plantation with visits to the overseer's house, the slave quarters, the peacock yard, the sheep pen, and the gardens. Children discuss the day-to-day operation of the plantation, learn about the slaves and free servents who lived and worked at "Highland," and take part in a craft demonstration.
